THIS YEAR'S MEDALS
September 29, 2009, 04:28:37 AM

I KNOW THIS HAS BEEN DISCUSSED BEFORE BUT I HAVE NOT HEARD ANY CONCLUSION OR DESICION--ARE WE GETTING CLOSE TO DECIDING A TOPIC FOR OUR MEDAL FOR THIS YEAR?---I THINK THE KNIGHT ON OUR MAIN PAGE IS GREAT FOR THE FRONT AND JUST CHANGE THE REVERSE--MAYBE A CASTLE WITH THE DATE AND A QUOTE--OR A PICTURE OF A MAIDEN---OR A SHIELD WITH COINS FOR OUR COAT OF ARMS--JUST THINKING OUT LOUD

The obverse will change each year and the reverse of 2008 will continue to be struck until further notice. Officially the reverse is a logo of KOTCT at this time. This was done to cut cost by quite a few hundred dollars on future strikings. At this time we are waiting for some word from Daniel Carr. I don't know if CoinCrusader reached him or not?

Twoshadows, I made a single try to contact Daniel, and without results.  Since we are leaving on vacation this morning, may I suggest you try and make contact.  I'm sure he has us in mind, but is simply busy.

I hope to begin some design work on this soon.
I believe the subject matter for this year's obverse will have a Dragon as the main feature.
The reverse will be the same as last year.

I want everyone to keep in MIND that silver is up and still rising. We MUST set prices that will cover, not only the precious metal blanks, but also engraving and sculpting fees. While we will be using the 2008 reverse their will be fees for both the 38mm and 63mm medallions if we continue to have both struck. Personally I don't care what we have struck or how we do it but just want to know there is enough interest to make this progarm work again. Our orders were down a bit last year but still generated enough when added to that which we had on hand from donations and fund raising to make the project a success. (thats when all the bills are paid and no one is forced to make up any difference). I will get with Daniel Carr soon and do hope we can continue to offer something affordable to every wallet.

For those who may have forgotten---OUR Dragon is those key dates we keep dreaming about. With a little luck, sooner or later, we all get our dragon!!! I believe we also discussed a small treasure chest and an absolutely drop dead gorgeous lady standing beside the dragon? Didn't we?

You just got a big kitty in 2008! Okay I can live with out the lady but do think the treasure chest would compliment our dragon? What I would like to know is how many kitties do you now own? I am constantly searching for Knights and did manage to find another one just this past week. Not many countries striking Knights any longer and if you do find one in silver prepare to pay the price. Poland has some square silver Knights, as we all know, due to the one that graces our Pet Set Excaliber but other than that its a tough road. Hey maybe someone needs to strike a Knight on a Lion? ;D

Did you see New Zealands "Narnia" Lion a few years back! Gold overlay on silver? Absolutely beautiful coin and my favorite cat at this time! They did the same thing with the Ring from the Lord of the Rings and it too is one of my favorites. And thats from someone who does not buy movie items. The beauty of New Zealand brought a lot to these movies so I had to have them!

I really don't have a clue!  Over a hundred different coins, and with duplicates...  more than that?  I have all the Isle of Man cat series crowns, and that alone adds up to over twenty.  If you add in tokens?  Eeeeeeesh...  I'm not even sure I have all my kitty coins pulled out from the general collection and stored with the majority.

Do add this coin to my collection?

There are quite a few big cat coins that have come out of Africa. One of my favorites, if I remember correctly, was out of Congo?

Templar if you are a "Ring" fan you really should try to locate the silver "One Ring" commemorative from New Zealand. The gold ring lies at an angle (so you can see the writing on the inside of the ring) on the proof silver coins. Absolutely stunning!
