I know in the 60's they gave a college $125,000 a year to do a study on why children fall off of tricycles. Money well spent!
This is a large sum of money, especially in the 60's.
But if the there was increased incidence of fractures in children resulting from falling off of tricycles, and taking in consideration the health and safety of children and how much the treatment of this type of accidents costs per year.
I guess it is a good point of research to try to find preventive measures for these accidents.
But still $125,000 a year is a lot of money in the 60's to fund a research with this aim whatever the methodology of the research is.
I think finding the cause and may be making some modifications in the tricycles design would cost much less money and take less time as well.
